Your Intellectual Property
Everything you write using Story Distiller is yours. It is saved to your local hard drive, where you have total control over it. All the raw text data remains available to you and we can help you retrieve it, even if you decide to leave us. It’s all in the Story Distiller folder in that directory until you decide to move or delete it.

For Story Distiller Pro users, all the above remains true but with the addition of a secure proxy maintained in Story Distiller Cloud, to aid collaboration. This data is encrypted and only visible/accessible to those with whom you choose to share it. We cannot access your data in any way except in the following way, under the following circumstances:

Should you decide to end your Pro Membership at any time, we will inform you 60 days prior to deleting your written data from Story Distiller Cloud. Again, we are unable to read or access any of the data you create using Story Distiller and remember, this is a copy of what’s on your computer, not the original. Any contributions you may have made to the forums will remain.

Our Intellectual Property
All Story Distiller software, whether web-based, Mac, Windows, iOS or Android remains the property of The Story Distillery Pty Ltd (ACN 670468416) exclusively and in perpetuity. Regardless of whether you pay for access to it or not, we provide it to under this clear understanding. You cannot legally share the app with other people and, should you do so, by providing them with your activation code you are allowing them access to your writing databases.

This website and all material contained within it, written, graphical, video and audio, remain the copyright and exclusive property of The Story Distillery Pty Ltd and its owners. It is illegal to copy or otherwise use anything you find here without our express permission. Please ask. We will always try to help where we can.

Contact Information
We collect only that information that is necessary to provide services to you.

Any email address(es) you provide to this site will only be used to contact you regarding updates or to provide you with support.

The contact details you enter into the software are for use by you alone, with the exception of the email address you enter the first time you use the software. This email address will be used to send you updated login details should you request them via the “Forgot Password” button in the app. The new password you’re sent will have been created by, and sent to you directly from, the software. We are never privy to the information.

Payment Information
We do not collect credit card information. That’s a headache neither we nor you need.

As you can use the software for free until your subscription begins, we’re happy to wait until you organise recurring payments through your bank. That way you have complete control over what you pay and when, without ever giving us your credit card details. Should your account fall behind, we will restrict access to our cloud services (but not the app – it’s free) until your account is caught up. After that, see above.
